September & Assistance to Children in Care Association

September is a time of new beginnings. As summer fades and students return to school, there’s a sense of fresh opportunity in the air—a reminder that education, stability, and support are essential in shaping the future. But for children in care, these opportunities are not always guaranteed.

That is why the Assistance to Children in Care Association (ACICA) is the perfect organisation to feature in the Colours of Malta 2025 Calendar this September. Dedicated to providing guidance, resources, and emotional support to children and young people in care, ACICA ensures that every child, no matter their background, has a fair chance at success.

A Support System for Malta’s Children in Care

Children who grow up in care often face unique challenges, from educational struggles to emotional trauma and a lack of long-term stability. ACICA works to bridge these gaps, ensuring that children and young adults in care receive the support, mentorship, and opportunities they need to thrive.

  • Educational Support – Providing tutoring, scholarships, and resources to help children succeed in school.
  • Mentorship and Emotional Guidance – Connecting young people with trusted mentors who offer advice, encouragement, and a sense of stability.
  • Transition Support for Young Adults – Assisting those leaving care with housing, employment, and life skills as they navigate adulthood.
  • Advocacy for Children’s Rights – Working with policymakers to improve childcare systems and ensure better protections for children in care.

The Colour of Growth and Possibility

Each month in the Colours of Malta Calendar is represented by a colour that reflects the essence of the featured foundation. September’s colour is light blue, symbolising hope, opportunity, and the limitless potential of every child when given the right support.

Light blue represents new beginnings, the pursuit of knowledge, and the support systems that help young people rise above their challenges. It is a colour of guidance, encouragement, and the belief that every child—regardless of their past—deserves a bright future.

By featuring ACICA Malta this September, we shine a light on the importance of providing every child in care with the support they need to grow, learn, and succeed.

How You Can Support ACICA Malta

  • Donate – Your contributions help fund educational programmes, mentorship opportunities, and essential resources for children in care.
  • Mentor or Volunteer – Offer your time and guidance to help young people in care build confidence and skills for the future.
  • Raise Awareness – Advocate for better policies and stronger support systems for children in care.
  • Support Education – Encourage schools and communities to provide inclusive, nurturing environments for children facing difficulties.

This September, as students across Malta return to school, let’s ensure that no child is left behind, no dream is dismissed, and no future is forgotten. Because every child deserves stability, education, and the opportunity to thrive.
